AnchorPoint Christian School's Team 2 (grades 3 and 4) offers distinctively Christian programming focused on experiential learning in a nurturing Christian environment. The curriculum enables parents/guardians to provide their child(ren) with an education that has a strong academic foundation and a strong biblical foundation - teaching them to look at God's world with a Godly vision.
AnchorPoint core curriculum features a two-year cycle in Bible, science, and social studies. Math and language arts offer differentiated instruction for each learner during each of the two years. Our staff members teach the core curriculum; specialists integrate art, band, library, music, physical education, Spanish, speech, and technology, along with enrichment and encouragement sessions.
BIBLE
Using the Bible and the text, The Calling of God's Tribe, the curriculum builds on students' biblical knowledge of God's relationship to his people. It also builds on their own commitment and personal relationship to God. Bible memory is integrated as appropriate.
SCIENCE
Based on state standards, hands-on activities help students acknowledge and marvel at God's awesome creation and consider their place in it.
SOCIAL STUDIES
The goal is that students understand their part in the communities around them and how they fit there as a people of God.
MATH
Students follow the Everyday Math curriculum. Concepts are expanded according to each learner's instructional needs. Key concepts are emphasized for the two years.
LANGUAGE ARTS
The overall reading goal is that students increase their comprehension level by learning and practicing skills and strategies while exploring a diversity of printed materials. The overall writing goal is that students become effective communicators of the written language. The curriculum incorporates grammar and spelling into daily reading and writing. Handwriting is expanded to include cursive writing.
