AnchorPoint partners with El Verbo Christian Elementary School, located in a small hillside village just outside of Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. El Verbo began in 1993 as an outreach of Stewardship of Christian Ministries (SCM), a non-profit organization that promotes holistic development for families in poverty. Those families pay a symbolic fee for tuition, with donations to SCM covering the rest.
El Verbo serves about 400 students from preschool through sixth grade. With staff committed to help children grow, they benefit from a consistent and supportive learning environment. Students are encouraged to use their gifts to serve God and their community. El Verbo goes beyond the basics by providing classes—such as physical education, computer, and music—that are often unavailable in public school where classes are large, resources few, and schedules unpredictable because teachers are often on strike.
AnchorPoint and El Verbo students share school Bible verses, songs, written letters, photos, and video chats. They learn that they are uniquely different, yet alike in many ways. They all come from families who know the worth of providing a Christian education for their children.
